How it Works

A vasectomy interrupts the process of sperm to travel up two tubes called the vas deferentia for ejaculation. It prevents the sperm from joining other fluids to form semen and exiting the penis. A vasectomy doesn't change a male's potency or sex drive. After a vasectomy, sperm produced die and are absorbed by the body.

The Procedure

A vasectomy is a minor procedure that takes about 30 minutes and is performed in our office under local anesthesia. Our physician will make a small incision in the scrotum and then block the passage of sperm through the vas deferens. You can rest at home after your procedure and the next day to prevent any complications. Generally you can resume normal activity after one week.
Vasectomies can be reversible but should not be assumed. Speak to one of our physicians to learn more. Call (828) 322-4340 now.
